Position Vacancy - Book Club Group Leader

Liberty LEADS is a comprehensive year-round after school program serving middle and high school youth. We are looking for talented people to work with and teach at our after school program. Classes are offered weekdays from 4:30-6:30PM. We are seeking a group leader for the following course.

"The Book Club" is a weekly middle school reading group that serves 7th and 8th graders ages 12-13. This group will be reading and discussing a number of novels throughout the year, using structured reading time and activities. The book club will support the academic class Whole Novel on the weekend where students will delve in deeper into the novel. The leader of this class will read the novels beforehand and will offer students support and guidance. The leader will be guided by an experienced Liberty staff member that will offer weekly supervision and support.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with 7th or 8th graders in a classroom setting
  • Bachelor's in Education, English or related field
  • Creativity and a sense of humor
  • Knowledge of child development
  • Classroom experience
