Position Vacancy – Lower and Middle School Psychologist (N-Grade 4)

Part-time, 4 days per week

Bank Street School for Children, an independent progressive school in Manhattan and a working model of Bank Street College’s approach to teaching and learning seeks an experienced, energetic, creative, and principled School Psychologist (N – grade 4), to join our faculty.

Responsibilities

The Lower and Middle School Psychologist:

  • Works collaboratively with faculty, Division Coordinators, learning specialists, the Upper School psychologist and the Dean on issues of concern regarding the development of children in the School
  • Interprets the results of diagnostic and assessment tools to help evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of children and to help identify their learning needs
  • Works with teachers and parents to develop strategies that will support the social/emotional/academic growth of children
  • Meets with parents individually and in groups concerning issues that affect the development of children
  • Participates in meetings related to children and school policy
  • Provides emergency intervention for students and adults in crisis

Qualifications

  • Ph.D in psychology preferred
  • Background with working with children and in schools is required
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • An understanding of the goals and philosophy of progressive education
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion

Salary Commensurate with experience

Start Date September 1, 2014
