Position Vacancy - Middle School Coordinator
Bank Street School for Children, an independent progressive school in Manhattan and a working model of Bank Street College’s approach to teaching and learning, seeks an energetic, creative, principled, visionary leader for its Middle School, effective July 1, 2014.
Reporting directly to the Dean of Children’s Programs, the Middle School Coordinator is responsible for: overseeing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for approximately 220 children in grades 1-4; supervising and evaluating a faculty and staff of approximately 30; communicating with parents; assisting with the admissions process; and fostering and sustaining a warm and welcoming environment. As a key member of the school’s administrative team, the Middle School Coordinator will play an important role in the school’s overall planning process and be integral in the continued articulation of the Bank Street approach to progressive education.
• A Master’s degree.
• Broad teaching and administrative experience at the elementary level.
• Expertise in curriculum, child development, faculty development and supervision.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
