World Dance
5/6 and 6/7s : Miranda Ten Broeke
In this class students will become fully immersed in the cultural customs, stories, music, and movements from countries such as India, China, Japan, Ireland, Greece, Australia, Brazil, Israel, South Africa, and Egypt. Miranda ten Broeke is a dancer and teacher with the celebrated dance company, the Vanaver Caravan, whose founders have filled up their lives traveling the world, learning and sharing songs and dance with children and adults from all walks of life, with the mission of building community and peace through dance and music. This class also enriches their understanding of the world we live in. 11 Sessions.
Creative Movement
4/5 and 6/7 : Miranda Ten Broeke
This is a fun beginner modern class for boys and girls which provides a full range of movement. Through a sequential combination of modern dance exercises, circle songs, yoga, choreography, partner work, trust, rhythm, shape, and story-telling the children develop technique, coordination, and imagination! The children are given the opportunity to explore their own movement styles and teach and learn from one another. 12 Sessions.
Circus World 1 & 2

A circus coming to Bank Street! In this brand new, fully immersive theater-arts program, we will spend our time creating a marvelous circus. Students will develop skills in acrobatics, clowning, and learn to morph into majestic animals. This program combines improvisational theater and role play with other creative arts and cooperative team-building games. We will build set backgrounds and fascinating scenes, develop strong character relationships, and engage in a team storytelling experience unlike anything you could ever imagine. Our goal is to provide something for every child's interests: theater, movement, arts-and-crafts, story construction, and, most importantly, a safe and energetic space to play together in a festival of fun and merriment! Introduction to Flamenco
5/6s & Up : Barbara Martinez
Students will learn the basics of flamenco dance technique (arm and hand movement, feet tapping hand clapping0 and the rhythmic patterns. The class will work toward a presentation of elementary choreography in the traditional Sevillianas.
Stage Stars
7/8s & Up : Broadway Bound Kids
Do you like to act or sing or dance or maybe even do all three? Then Stage Stars is the class for you. If you like to act, you'll get to work on skits and scenes and you'll learn all about getting into character! If musicals are what you love, then you'll learn to act out and sing songs from Broadway shows! We'll also play tons of fun improvisation and theater games, our teachers are extremely talented teaching artists who customize each class to meet the needs of the students. Shakespeare Continues: The Tempest

You just can't miss this wonderful play! It is a full year program ending with two performances in June. Joanna has an M.F.A. in Theatre from Columbia University. All are welcome.
Broadway Bound
5/6s & 6/7s
Every child gets their chance to shine in Broadway Bound. This class helps bring out the creativity of each child through singing, dancing, acting and theater games. We'll learn songs from Broadway shows and we'll make up some of our own dance moves. This class gives kids a fun place to express themselves. Broadway Bound Kids is in its 6th year of provided unique performing arts classes for kids in the New York area. Our teachers are extremely talented teaching artists who customize each class to meet the needs of the students.
Hip Hop Break Stomp
9/10s & UP : Miranda ten Broeke
In this innovative movement class, we merge hip-hop, break-dancing, and African dance with drumming, STOMP choreography and sharp body percussion. We will explore the lively worlds of contemporary hip hop and percussive dance - learning to break, pop, lock, clap, slap, and stomp while discovering the evolution of our hip-hop culture, from its roots in African dance and jazz music to the urban American sidewalks. We will work as a top-notch team to create original dances, build rhythms, and DJ music together.
