Rachel Simmons Speaks at Bank StreetPosted by Katie Peshut on Dec 2012
The Bank Street School for Children Parents Association arranged for an afternoon and evening visit by Rachel Simmons on December 5, 2012.
Rachel is the author of the groundbreaking book Odd Girl Out: The Hidden Culture of Aggression in Girls and, more recently, The Curse of the Good Girl: Raising Authentic Girls with Courage and Confidence (2010).
Rachel also co-founded the Girls Leadership Institute, a non-profit organization that teaches girls and women skills for assertive self-expression, emotional intelligence, and authentic relationships.
A compelling and engaging presenter, Rachel met with two groups of 12/13s (7th grade) girls during the school day, addressed the faculty in the afternoon, and presented to parents in the early evening. All who attended her presentations left with a lot to think about and some new strategies to use in their relationships.
