President Elizabeth Dickey to Retire Summer 2014Posted by Nick Gray on May 10, 2013
Elizabeth Dickey, Bank Street’s president since 2008, will retire at the end of the summer in 2014. Board of Trustees Chair Tony Asnes and Chair-Elect Yolanda Ferrell-Brown notified faculty and staff of her decision on May 10.
“It is bittersweet for us to write this note to the community,” they wrote. “We are very grateful to her for her service to the College over the past five years and look forward to a continued busy, productive period of time prior to her departure.”
Elizabeth’s tenure at Bank Street followed over four decades of study and work in higher education, most recently as dean, provost, and professor at The New School in New York City. At Bank Street, she led such initiatives as online learning, expanded outreach to legislators and government officials on education policy issues, and the establishment of a College-wide program for research and policy led by Dean Jon Snyder.
After the Board announcement, Elizabeth sent a personal letter to faculty and staff. She wrote joyfully of the College’s accomplishments during challenging economic times, and expressed her gratitude to the trustees for their leadership and to faculty and staff for their tireless hard work and dedication.tagged elizabeth dickey, president, trustees,
