Powerful reading communities are created when children are invited to connect with text and other readers using higher levels of critical thinking and comprehension strategies. This is no less true for children with diverse language and cognitive needs. In this class, participants will learn approaches for guiding English Language Learners and children with exceptional needs to acquire the behaviors of highly competent readers inside a year-long curriculum of critical literacy and talk in the Read Aloud. Knowledge of Read Aloud is expected.
