Some of the Values that Shape My Work
I believe that teachers can change lives. Therein lies both great opportunity and great responsibility. The ultimate outcome of our work is to empower individuals of every background to make informed, constructive decisions and to become proactive members of their communities. To accomplish this, we need to develop ongoing habits of individual and collaborative reflection, inquiry, and professional growth so that we continue to nourish our practices and remain vital and effective in the classroom. After many years of experience in urban schools, it is exciting to be passing the torch to a new generation of teachers, with particular focus on helping them to become able to foster among their students high-level thinking, effective engagement with others, and active, creative literacy and learning across the content areas.
