Alexis Wright

Alexis WrightAppointed in 2009, Alexis Wright is the Dean of Children's Programs. In that role, he is responsible for leading and managing the School for Children, an independent, progressive school serving over 400 children, ages 3 through eighth grade; Family Center, an infant and toddler program serving children ages 6 months through age 5; an after school program; and a summer camp enrolling over 450 children annually.

Alexis began his career in education at Rye Country Day School in Rye, NY, where he taught 5th and 6th grade science. After teaching for five years, he then served as the middle school principal, before leaving to become the principal of the middle school at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. After three years in that position, Alexis came back to Rye Country Day School, where he served as the Assistant Head of School before moving to Bank Street College.

Originally from New York City, Alexis earned an MA in Marine Affairs and Policy from the University of Miami and a BS in Human Ecology from Rutgers University. He and his wife, Allison, live on the Upper West Side with their young daughter, Morgan.
