Governance

Bank Street College of Education, like its 4,000 higher education peers and its independent school peers, is governed by a Board of Trustees;  the Board has the legal and fiduciary responsibility for the College as a whole.

However, also like many peer educational institutions, Bankstreet emphasizes a degree of shared responsibility for the College.  In this regard, several College committees provide guidance to the president and the Cabinet.  For example, Staff Council, a representative and elected body with two co-chairs, is drawn from the College community as a whole. Staff Council serves as an information “hub” and it provides council to the president and the Cabinet.
