What We Believe

Since 1916, Bank Street College of Education has been serving students, families, schools and other non-profits, and the education policy community. Our Board of Trustees is composed of 34 people, including the President of the College. The Cabinet, is the senior leadership group which advises the president on matters of planning, strategy and resource allocation;  there are eight Cabinet members. The College By-Laws provide additional detail.

Mission

The mission of Bank Street College is to improve the education of children and their teachers by applying to the education process all available knowledge about learning and growth, and by connecting teaching and learning meaningfully to the outside world. In so doing, we seek to strengthen not only individuals, but the community as well, including family, school, and the larger society in which adults and children, in all their diversity, interact and learn. We see in education the opportunity to build a better society.

The Board of Trustees

The Bank Street College Board of Trustees is the governing body for the College, and is the key policy-making structure for the institution. There are 30 members including the President of the College and five Associate Trustees. It has an Executive Committee and 10 additional committees.  

The Board meets four times a year supported by the more detailed work of its standing committees that meet throughout the academic year.  >>>

Cabinet

The cabinet is the leadership team of the college. The team meets weekly to advise the president on policy development, university governance, academic affairs, strategic planning, and the fiscal operations of the university. >>>
