Select Policies & Procedures
Since 1916, as the Bureau of Educational Experiments, Bank Street College of Education has been entrenched in early child development. In 1935, Bank Street became incorporated with the State of New York, and has been guided by a charter and bylaws. From time to time, the bylaws are amended by a two-thirds vote of the Board of Trustees reflect changed circumstances and practices. The most recent bylaw revision was approved by the Trustees in 2010. It is also true that throughout the history of the college the president periodically appoints “as needed” committees to consider important issues, and the Board of Trustees follows the same practice. For example, in 2010/11 the Board has had a Committee on the Bookstore and one on Facilities Planning.
This section of the website is structured around college-wide guiding policies, which are grouped by general, guiding topics. This listing does not include all gollege policies. Policies are regularly reviewed for appropriateness given changing circumstances.

Use of College Facilities
As a not-for-profit educational institution, the use of Bank Street College facilities is generally restricted to mission-related activities. Bankstreet faculty, staff and students may use college facilities for internal events (e.g., meetings, social occasions) when space is available, as confirmed by the Chief Operating Officer.
Requests from outside organizations are considered on a case-by-case basis and overseen by the Chief Operating Officer. Applications and a certificate of insurance are required in all such cases.
