Curriculum

Curriculum at the Family Center is based largely on the activities of daily living. When we talk of our curriculum, we are referring to the environment, people, and routines as well as specific activities. The Bankstreet developmental-interaction approach to education stresses the importance of materials in the classroom and favors some kinds of materials over others. It also suggests the role of the teachers in the room as facilitators of learning.

Below are some activities and materials central to the Bank Street Family Center classroom:

  • Art
  • Blocks
  • Dramatic Play
  • Sensory Experiences
  • Music, Movement, and Gross Motor Activities
  • Outings
