Evaluations

The Family Center Home and Community-Based Program is an approved NYC Department of Education (DOE) evaluation site for children who are referred through the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) upon parental request and consent, to determine eligibility for special education services.

CPSE Mandated Evaluations Include:

  • Social History
  • Psychological
  • School observation

Supplemental Evaluations may also be conducted:

  • Speech/feeding
  • Educational
  • Occupational therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Audiological
  • Other types as needed

These evaluations determine the eligibility for special Education services.

Specific services mandates are determined at the IEP (Individualized Education Program) meeting conducted by the DOE.

Services are provided and coordinated by an accredited agency as specified at the IEP meeting.
