An Afternoon Meeting
Don't forget to say goodbye...
We end the day the way we begin it — with a whole group meeting. We gather in the meeting area to:
- review the contents of homework folders,
- talk about the day's events,
- record one special "happening" on our Class News calendar, which provides an opportunity to model and practice using developmental spelling in a meaningful context,
- sing a closing song.
The Afternoon Meeting also strengthens our sense of community, encourages the habit of reflection, and helps children center themselves for the last important transition of the school day.
