Graduate School IMP Guides

Bank Street College Graduate School has produced a booklet A Guide to the Integrative Master's Project [pdf] which explains the entire thesis process, and the forms you will need to submit along the way. This booklets is available from:

  • Graduate Suite
  • Registrar's Office
  • Library.

If you are working on your thesis long-distance, and you need a copy of this booklet, please contact the Library. We can also send you a copy of The Graduate School's APA style guide "A Writer's Handbook."

Deadlines

The Registrar's Office posts deadlines for thesis submission (look under IMP Options > Independent Study). Please note that as of May 2004 new forms have been introduced for independent studies in which human participants will be used. Contact the Registrar's Office for details.

What You Need to Bring to the Library

What the Librarian Will Check

  • Page numbering
  • Correct order, for example, cover page, abstract, table of contents
  • Making sure no extra blank pages are inside the thesis before it’s bound
  • An unsigned copy of a letter you sent to parents or participants telling them about your study and asking for permission to photograph children or use their work (if applicable)
  • Copyright release letters or emails.

Submitting a Thesis Long-Distance

Please email the Library for printable versions of required forms.

Personal Copies

If you would like to get bound copies of your thesis for yourself or friends, you can fill out the Request for Binding of Personal Copy of Independent Study form. Each copy costs $20.00. There is a $7.50 mailing charge if collecting your personal copy is not an option. Theses can be bound in a variety of colors, and there is an option for gold lettering at no extra cost.
