General Information

Fall Fair
Saturday, October 13, 10am-4pm
 at Bank Street

3 days to go until the Fall Fair! The current weather forecast is for a beautiful fall day.

  • We are still accepting books every morning through Friday in the cafeteria. The Early Bird Book Sale will begin in the auditorium on Friday from 1-6pm.

  • For those who haven't signed up for a volunteer shift, you can still do so online or  on the posted spreadsheet in the lobby. Our greatest need is for the 2-4pm shift. If you won't be here the day of the Fair, you can sign up for the Friday set-up of the Book Sale, morning book sorting in the cafeteria, or morning lobby for Box Office ticket and bracelet sales. Please email richktz@gmail.com to work out the details.
  • Don't forget the Raffle. You can drop off the sold tickets with Kelvin in the Dean's office or bring them with you to the Fair on Saturday. First prize is an iPad; second prize is a Kindle Fire. Other great prizes follow. We are still accepting raffle prizes for both the main raffle and the mini-raffle. Those can be dropped in the cafeteria or with Kelvin. Please make sure it is clearly marked as a raffle prize or let one of the sorters know.
  • Bake Sale reminder: bring your homemade baked goods to the cafeteria on Friday. Cookies, brownies, cupcakes, muffins, tarts, pies, family favorites are all welcome. We ask that they all be homemade.

Thanks for all your enthusiasm. It's going to be a great day with live music (including the return of our flamenco dancer), great games and crafts, and a lot of kids having loads of fun.

From the Dean: School for Children Technology Plan

Recently, the School for Children initiated a strategic planning process to identify major goals and priorities with regard to technology use in the school for the next three to five years. In-depth discussions involving members of the faculty, current parents, staff and administration helped to identify four major goals for the school’s immediate future, as well as a number of specific implementation strategies that will allow the school to accomplish the plan’s goals.

We encourage all SFC community members to take some time to review the plan’s four major goals, the rationales for these goals, and the implementation strategies that will guide the follow-up process. You can access the Technology Plan here or on the Parent Corner page of our website. I am pleased to say that as a faculty and administration, we are actively engaged in the research and planning that are important to fulfilling the major goals.

Please let us know if you have any questions or feedback, and we look forward to keeping you informed regarding our progress.
