Meet Chef Chad

Dear Camp Families,

The Bank Street Kitchen focuses on making simple, delicious and healthy food that both kids and adults can enjoy. My staff and I are in our second year of cooking for the Bank Street School for Children and the response has been very enthusiastic. This summer we are excited to cook for the Summer Camp.

My goal is to make eating an enjoyable experience for campers but to also help them explore the world surrounding food. Many kids look forward to our meals because they are simple, like roast chicken with broccoli, tomato soup and grilled cheese on wheat bread. Other lunches may be slightly more challenging but we always include some familiar points of reference. For instance, a curry dish will be accompanied by basic rice and vegetable sides. We also provide a full salad bar each day with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. We want to make sure that each child has a balanced meal that gives them the energy they need to get through their active day, especially at camp.

Everything we serve is cooked from scratch. We don't take shortcuts by using processed food or flavorings. Instead we focus on bringing out the best flavors within each of our dishes. I have often found that kids dislike a dish because of the way it looks after it's prepared. Properly cooked vegetables should be bright and delicious, and not something that is forced upon children.

We provide vegetarian and gluten free options daily and we can accommodate many other restrictions. We maintain a nut-free kitchen and have a lot of experience in catering to children with other allergies and specific needs. Please let us know prior to camp if you have any concerns or restrictions and we'll discuss how we can best serve your child.

My staff and I are really looking forward to a tasty and healthy summer.

Sincerely,
Chef Chad
