After Camp Overview

After Camp is excited to announce new additions for Summer 2012 season including Improv Theater, Jazz Dance with Claudia, Yoga for Youth and private chess lessons. Enrichment courses are from 3:00pm  to 4:30pm. After Care is from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. Remember children do not have to be enrolled in Summer Camp to attend After Camp programs.

The “Drop In” option is available for children who are not enrolled in enrichment courses during the whole session, however need to join a courses at 3:00pm on any specific day for an additional fee of $30.00.

Please note: The grades listed are the grades that the camper will be going into for Fall 2012.

  • Session 1 Mon/Wed Enrichment

    Monday/Wednesday Enrichment

    Sports Sampler (PreK-1st grade) Children will get introduced to new sports games, explore eye-hand coordination and have a ball literally!  Play butterball, tag and other games that encourage them to use their imagination and improve motor skills in a non-competitive environment.

    Crazy Crafts and Games (PreK-2nd grade) Work on creative projects using colorful everyday items. Campers will be manipulating different types of materials from construction paper to pipe cleaners. Artwork projects are taken home the same day. Play quiet games with peers.

    Creative Cooking (PreK-1st grade) Young chefs-in-training create delicious eye-catching dishes and edible arrangements including “Veggie Pinwheels” and “Banana Volcanoes” in a full kitchen. All recipes are nut free. 

    Young Scientists (K-2nd grade) Let your child’s curiosity go wild! Learn and explore the world of science, conduct experiments, make observations, make mistakes, and get messy! This is not a course for Drop Ins.

    Kick It Soccer (2nd-6th grade) Learn the fundamentals of soccer. Learn how to kick, dribble, offensive and defensive plays, improve playing skills, learn new tricks and play scrimmage games on the roof.

    Chess Champs (2nd grade +) Learn how to play chess, new strategies and play with your buddies and counselors in a non-competitive atmosphere. This is a terrific way for kids to pace themselves, build self-image and self-esteem.

    Pool Pass Swim (2nd grade +) Enjoy additional time in the pool including instructional and free swim. Children will work on improving their swimming techniques and most importantly water safety. This is not course for Drop Ins.

    Private Lessons (All ages) Lessons are with a teacher per half-hour. We offer lessons for chess, guitar, swim, piano, Spanish from 3:15pm to 5:00pm and Chess from 4:30pm-5:30pm. Please Note: Private Lessons are only available from Monday to Thursday. Fridays are reserved for makeup classes. Private Lessons must be cancelled 24 hours in advance. 

    Extended Day Care at 4:30 (All ages) Campers can register for half hour, full hour or an hour an half after 4:30pm. Work on fun creative projects each day from 4:30-6:00pm. Each week will have a different theme. Children can only participate in Extended Day Care if they are registered for enrichment courses and/or private lessons as well. Note: Please make arrangements for your child be picked up by 6:00pm. There will be a charge of $20.00 after such time.

    Sprinklers/Roof Games (PreK-1st grade) Rub on some more sunscreen, have some fun in the sun, get soaking wet, and play with toys in the water tables.

    Make Waves Swim (PreK-2nd grade) Enjoy additional time in the pool including instructional and free swim. This is the perfect time for young campers to get more comfortable in the water.  Lifeguards introduce new concepts, breath control and most importantly water safety. This is not course for Drop Ins.

    Mad Math (K-2nd grade) “Mathematics is the door and key to the sciences” (Roger Bacon). Explore shapes and numbers by playing fun math games. Improve adding and subtracting skills with single, double and even triple digits! This is not course for Drop Ins.

    In Motion Movement (PreK-2nd) $52 Encourage cognitive and physical development by discovering different aspects of movement such as space, time, level, shape and mimicking with music. Stimulate imagination and make up some new moves along the way.

    Chess Champs (2nd grade +) Learn how to play chess, new strategies and play with your buddies and counselors in a non-competitive atmosphere. This is a terrific way for kids to pace themselves, build self-image and self-esteem.

    Buddy Chefs (All ages) $52 Young campers pair up with older campers to create delicious dishes. This is a great opportunity for mixed ages to establish new friendships and set examples for one another while preparing delicious entrees and snacks. Each week children will experience a dish from a different country.

    Photo Journalism (2nd grade +) Why do certain photographs make you feel a certain way? How can you evoke a feeling through a photo? Before you take a photograph is it important to learn how to read an image. In this course you will learn how to read and take photographs like a professional photographer. You’ll get so good at using a camera you will start helping your parents. This is not course for Drop Ins.

    Yoga for Youth (2nd grade +) Campers explore the wonders and fun of Yoga.

    Rock Band (3rd grade +) Jam and rock the afternoon away with this ensemble group.

    Write on Life (4th grade +) Campers write short life stories for a dramatic presentation. Taught by Devin Norik.

    Computer Programming (4th grade +) Learn the language called Processing and develop electronic sketches and graphics. This language builds on Java but uses simplified syntax and graphics. This is not course for Drop Ins.

    Robotics (4th grade +)  Learn how to build robots and the programming language to control their every move. This exciting course fills quickly so register early! This is not course for Drop Ins.

    Advanced Collage (4th grade +) Investigate ways to make collages, including digital collage.

    Improv Theater (4th grade +) Learn dramatic and comedic acting techniques, encourage dialogue and entertainment with new friends and have great time doing it.
