Some of the Values that Shape My Work
Maxine Greene once said, “Imagination is the capacity to see things as they would be otherwise.” As such, I imagine a world where children and families are foregrounded in educational policy and practice—a dream that is certainly achievable but one that requires a reordering of our national priorities. I believe that learning—real learning—is constructed by the learner and facilitated by a skilled and caring educational practitioner. The piece of knowledge that I value the most is that we need to teach the whole child and to achieve this, we must see our students as the multifaceted, complicated, and potential-filled individuals they are.
