Bank Street Summer Camp

image description

Everything you want it to be.

Camp LogoBank Street Summer Camp is the premier progressive day camp in Manhattan for children 4-14.  As a co-ed, child-centered, nurturing community, we pay special attention to the personal growth of each child, by emphasizing process rather than product, making the camp an emotionally and physically safe environment for hands-on learning, discovery and fun.

While many campers go to the School during the year, most are from other schools in the New York City area. Our staff is made up of graduate students from the Graduate School, alumni from the School for Children and various professionals within their fields.

Summer Camp Programs

Check out ages, dates and programs.

    Lower Camp

The Lower Camp consists of 11 groups for children 4-8 years old. Our two-week, five-week and one-week programs are designed to offer children an opportunity to explore the city and its vast resources, in a safe and relaxed setting. Within our air-conditioned classrooms each group is equipped with both challenging and enriching materials. Each group swims three times a week, twice in the Barnard College pool and once at the scenic Lake Welch, where our waterfront staff instructs the children both individually and in small groups, at appropriate swim levels and with an emphasis on safety. Lake Welch is located in Harriman State Park, 40 minutes north of Manhattan. The Riverdale pool is a private outdoor pool 15 minutes north of Bank Street.  Lower Camp programs include General Camp and Spanish Immersion.  For 2nd grader campers, they have the option of Mulit-Media(Art, Woodworking and Technology), Science and Exploration or Spanish Immersion.

Quotes

“I want to take a moment to thank-you from the bottom of my heart. Jacob has been at Bank Street Camp since he was 6 years old. At 14, he is happier than he's ever been, has come so far and has wonderful memories of Bank Street Camp. It is very emotional for me that this is his last week/last summer there. You do such an amazing job, Cookie. What a special camp you run. I thank-you, and will always be so incredibly grateful to you and the entire staff that has touched my son's life so deeply.”
