Sometimes we just want to get a quick and easy APA citation for a book we’ve found in the Bank Street Library online catalog (fun fact: our catalog is called koha which is New Zealand Māori for donation or gift). Maybe you haven’t noticed but there is APA citation help for each library item in our catalog.
First, you need to click the title:
Second, you need to look at the right-hand side of the screen. You will see in the Title Actions box. next:
- Click the View record as…
- And, select APA citation, this activates a pop-up box:
Copy the information in the APA Citation data view (and yes, you can print it if you choose). You should get something like this:
Newman, L. (2002). Dogs, dogs, dogs. Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers: New York.
But, as we all know, we usually have to do some tweaking. Put the place of publication in the correct position with its two letter state postal code, and make the publisher’s name “bare bones,” i.e., Simon & Schuster + Books. Now, your APA citation is ready to paste into your reference list.
