Carolina E. González, PhD, is an educator and higher education leader with nearly 20 years of experience championing educational access and opportunity, student success, and organizational effectiveness. She currently serves as chief of staff to the president at Bank Street College of Education.
Prior to joining Bank Street, Carolina was the inaugural associate dean for student success in the College for Education and Engaged Learning at Montclair State University and assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership. She led initiatives focusing on student access, enrollment, retention, and graduation and oversaw work related to marketing, communications, strategic partnerships, and community outreach. In her eight years at Montclair State, Carolina also led significant projects focused on culture and equity, as well as operational transformations across the college, including efforts to address the shortage of teachers and diversify the teacher education workforce.
An active scholar, Dr. González researches college persistence and success factors for historically marginalized student populations and has led significant initiatives investigating the success of Black and Latinx college males. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Spanish from SUNY New Paltz, a master’s degree in Higher Education Management and Policy from SUNY Albany, and a PhD in Higher Education Leadership, Management, and Policy from Seton Hall University.
