Gabriel Guyton is an early childhood specialist with over two decades of experience supporting the emotional well-being of children, families, and educators. As co-director of Bank Street’s Center for Emotionally Responsive Practice, Gabriel is deeply committed to fostering relationships that provide safety, healing, and connection. Her work is guided by attachment theory and neurobiology principles, drawing from the latest understanding of relationships, emotional bonds, and how experiences shape the developing brain.
Gabriel brings a trauma-informed and healing-centered lens to her work. She recognizes that when children feel secure in their relationships, they are better able to explore the world and express themselves. She partners closely with educators to help them understand the emotional lives of children, especially those who have experienced trauma. Through reflective supervision, Gabriel creates a space where educators feel empowered and supported, deepening their ability to connect with children in meaningful and healing ways.
With a career that began at the Bank Street Family Center, where she worked with infants and toddlers, Gabriel has always prioritized the deep emotional bonds that form in the earliest years of life. Her belief in the power of relationships extended into her role as a faculty member in the Infant and Family Development and Early Intervention program at Bank Street Graduate School, where she shared her knowledge with future educators. Gabriel holds a master’s degree in general and special education from the Infant and Family Development and Early Intervention program at Bank Street Graduate School, as well as a master’s degree in the psychology of counseling. She is also endorsed in infant mental health and reflective supervision, where she works to ensure that the principles of emotional safety, empathy, and connection guide her work with children, families, and educators.
