As thought leaders continue to explore the most promising approaches to teacher preparation, we are pleased to share with you a post published in Education Week by Jon Snyder, Executive Director of the Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education (SCOPE) and former Dean of Bank Street Graduate School of Education, titled “Teaching for a Changing World: The Graduates of Bank Street College of Education.”
The article highlights findings from a soon-to-be-released research study conducted by SCOPE exploring the outcomes of Bank Street’s teacher preparation program. The study analyzes the impact of the Graduate School of Education program on graduates, their students, and their schools in real-world settings and closely examines how classroom practice is enhanced through high-quality teacher training.
In his post, Snyder notes that the “quality of teaching is an essential variable in the school-learning of children” and writes:
Supporting each and every one of our children into and through deeper learning requires expert teaching. The findings from this study provide provocative information to guide our policy and practice decisions regarding the education of teachers and our children.
