The following are commonly asked questions or tasks patrons want help with. Please feel free to ask for help at the reference and circulation desks.
Renew Books
Renewing books is surprisingly easy. All you need is your Bank Street email address and password. If you are a parent use the email address you use to communicate with the School for Children. It’s important to Register with the Library, and finally that the generic password changeme.
Databases
The Library subscribes to EBSCO Discovery Service. You can access this service from the Library’s homepage search box. Make sure you select “Search Everything.” EBSCO Discovery Service searches:
- The Library catalog (e.g., books, CDs, and eBooks)
- EBSCOhost databases we subscribe to (e.g., Academic Search Premier, ERIC, and Education Source)
- Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)
ProQuest
This very useful database is comparatively small at Bank Street but compliments our EBSCO databases. It should be part of your research plan to search for articles in ProQuest. EBSCO identifies ProQuest as Education database in Find Journals.
Google Scholar
You can make this popular search engine much more useful by including Library Links (Fulltext @ Bank Street & ProQuest Fulltext) as part of your Google Scholar settings. If you are at home, visit our Google Scholar blog post to get started.
