We started with the phrase  “Did you know this about the Library?” And, our list just kept growing! Come and see the poster in person, you can’t miss it (it’s across from the reference desk).

Faculty, you can…

  • Take customized field trips to the library with your classes

Students, you can…

  • Snack in the library in designated spaces 
  • Use the Library back room 505A when it’s free  for calls, Zooming, and quiet work
  • Use the Library Lobby for calls, and Zooming anytime
  • Check out up to 25 books at a time
  • Check out a pre-2012 IMP in print
  • View and download post-2012 IMPs from home
  • Take out children’s books for your classroom and your family
  • Print from the Library copiers with a credit of $13.50 
  • Hang out with friends
  • Use spaces in the Library for group work 
  • Check out artwork from famous children’s book illustrators on our walls.
  • Grab 40 winks in the library, napping is allowed and encouraged
  • Work on a jigsaw puzzle!
  • Oh, and get help with your research skills too

  • Schedule a visit with the archivist in the library to learn more about Bank Street’s history and see historical materials first-hand, for a research project or to gain ideas about teaching with primary sources.

  • Our student IMPs are the secondd most downloaded resource on Educate
  • We have illustrations on our walls created by some of the most famous names in the children’s book industry.
  • We have one of the finest collections of children’s picture books in Spanish in New York City as well as a shelf dedicated to our annual Best Books of the Year in Spanish list which you can borrow.
  • You can examine the shelves dedicated to the 600 works on our annual Children’s Book Committee’s Best Books of the Year (non-circulating)
  • In 2025, you will also be able to examine copies of the Children’s Book Committee’s Best Board Books of the Year  (non-circulating)
  • The Library copiers can staple up to 50 pages
  • Emailing from the Library copiers is free.
