A few days after the start of school in January, The Bank Street School for Children community joined two neighboring schools on the Upper West Side, The Cathedral School and The School at Columbia, in a walk for peace, promise, and justice. Students, parents, caregivers, relatives, and friends (500 of us!) came together with handmade signs promoting what we believe in and what we stand for. It was a special moment for the community to unite around a common set of beliefs, both for the walk and then for the songs in the majestic Cathedral of St. John the Divine. This was a rite of passage for many of the younger children, who had not yet experienced social activism.
