Principal Innovation Fellowship
Bank Street’s Principal Innovation Fellowship empowers New York City public high school leaders to redesign their schools with relevant career pathways and work-based learning opportunities. Focused on preparing students for postsecondary success and breaking cycles of generational poverty, the fellowship launched in SY23-24 with 27 principals from across four boroughs.
Fellows in the Principal Innovation Fellowship create a two-year roadmap to redesign their schools, setting clear benchmarks for meaningful change. With the support of a school team, they focus on expanding career-connected learning, transforming school practices, and building sustainable systems. Over the two years, Bank Street partners with NYCPS to track key outcomes, including shifts in teacher practices, increased student engagement, improved postsecondary readiness, and greater opportunities for student voice and family involvement.

Fellowship Impact
Principals will develop a roadmap for school redesign with benchmarks for school change across a two-year span. Bank Street will work with principals to align their implementation plan to the core components of FRNYC and will collaborate with NYCPS to document common measures of outcomes and impacts in schools. These will include changes in teacher practice, increased student engagement, increased measures of postsecondary readiness, and new opportunities for student voice and family engagement.
