  • Celebrating Liberty LEADS

Liberty LEADS is a high school graduation and college readiness program that helps students from underserved communities in New York City succeed in both school and life. This year, the Annual Dinner will celebrate Liberty LEADS and its 30 years of helping students attain higher education, embrace leadership engagement, and create a positive future for themselves and others.

Our Grant-A-Wish program will aim to raise $100,000 to help Liberty LEADS continue to make a difference in the lives of local New York City students. To make a donation, follow the steps below. Thank you for your support!

  • Honoring Sarah and Geoffrey Gund

Sarah and Geoffrey GundBank Street College of Education is thrilled to honor Sarah and Geoffrey Gund for their dedication to supporting high-quality education for children and their teachers. The Kerlin-Gray-Gund Family’s legacy with Bank Street began in the 1930s, when Sarah’s mother, Sally Kerlin, graduated with a master’s degree in Special Education and Elementary Education and served as a Life Trustee. Sally was particularly committed to environmental education and hands-on learning, launching the Endowment for the Teaching of the Natural and Environmental Sciences that enriched and expanded Bank Street’s science education curriculum in public schools throughout New York City. Sarah is an alumna of the Graduate School; she taught two courses at what was then the Graduate School, Continuing Education. Sarah’s children and grandchildren attended the School for Children.

Sarah and Geoff support numerous progressive education and community development causes, including Bank Street’s Urban Education partnership with BronxWorks and the Graduate School’s Online Learning Program. They have also been instrumental leaders of Wave Hill and Riverdale Neighborhood House.

Sarah will be retiring from Bank Street’s Board of Trustees in December, and we can think of no better way to honor her service and commitment to Bank Street. For more than seven decades and several generations, Bank Street has benefited from the leadership and generosity of women in The Kerlin-Gray-Gund family.
